3. What age ranges do you take?
We care for children aged 3months – 5 years.
4. What do I need to provide?
A list of what you will need to bring to nursery can be found here for children starting in the baby room and here for children starting in the 2-5 room.
5. What meals/snacks do you provide? Do you cater for allergies/intolerances/preferences?
At The Farmyard Nursery we are committed to feeding the children a varied, colourful, interesting and healthy diet. Breakfast from 7:30am-8:00am is a choice of two different cereals (or a mix!) or toast with milk or water to drink. From 8:00am – 8:30am children have the choice between two different cereals (or a mix!). Our snacks consist of fruit/vegetables and a carbohydrate for a balanced snack, served with a choice of either milk or water. We provide a hot homemade lunch with plenty of vegetables and protein, along with a pudding. We can cater for any culture/religion/preference/allergy/intolerance. If your child’s session is until 6:00pm, we serve a light tea at 4:00pm with a pudding. Lunch and tea are both served with water. The children have all-day access to their own eco-friendly metal water bottles that the nursery provides.
6. What is a day at The Farmyard Nursery like?
Every day is different at The Farmyard Nursery and activities can vary depending on the children’s interests that day. The nursery opens at 7:30am and we run breakfast until 8:30 so that the children who start at 8:00am can enjoy breakfast with their friends too. We let the children free play if they are not eating during this time and we have free-flow access to the garden. We have snack around 9:30am, but this can vary if we go for a walk to the woods and take snack with us for a picnic! We spend a lot of the day outside free playing and exploring activities led by the children’s interests. At 12:00pm all of the children eat a hot, homemade cooked meal for lunch together with the adults and then children either go home or come into nursery at 1:00pm, and the younger children have a nap while the older children free play. We continue our free-flow access to the garden in the afternoon and have snack around 2:30pm (again, this time can vary depending on if we are on walk) until 4:00pm when some of our friends go home, and some stay for a light tea until 6:00pm.
